An absolutely lovely bush cowpea that grows rapidly in warm weather to a height of about 18″ and produces abundant clusters of 8-10″ long tender dark purple pods that can be enjoyed fresh, like green beans, or fresh shelled if left to mature a bit longer. If left to dry on the plant then the beans will dry and can be stored for use over the winter. A favorite recipe here is black-eyed pea & tomatillo salsa!
