Basil – Italian Large Leaf Seeds
About-Â While similar to its cousin, Genovese Basil, Italian Large Leaf Basil boasts a slightly less clove-like taste. This variety is sweet, with large, robust leaves making it a great choice for use in the kitchen.Â
When and Where to Plant–Â Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost, and transplant out when evening temps are above 45 degrees. Start seeds outdoors in late Spring when the soil temperature has warmed. Choose a warm, full sun location with rich, well-draining soil.
Care and Harvest–Â Basil does not need much, if any, fertilization. Be sure to keep the soil damp, but not soggy. You can start to harvest from your Basil plant when it is 6-8″ tall. Harvest frequently to encourage more growth.Â
