Foxglove Seeds
About-Â This lovely, old-fashioned plant will attract hummingbirds to the garden and readily self-sows. Low-growing foliage is topped by 3 to 5 foot flower spikes in June. Plants may re-bloom if spent flower stalks are cut back after blooming. The dried leaves are the principal source of the drug digitalis, a potent heart medicine, making the plant poisonous to animals and humans.
When & Where to Plant-Â Start indoors 8-10 weeks before the last frost or sow outdoors once the danger of frost has passed. Can also be direct sown in the fall. Full sun to partial shade.
Care & Harvest-Â Water as needed. may require staking or support with flower netting if being grown for cut flowers.Â
