About- (Heirloom) Sweet and tender, this turnip has a white root blushed with pink to purple at the crown. With 4 – 6″ mature roots and nutritious young leaves, the easy-to-grow veggie is perfect for soups, or baked alongside other root vegetables. The root can be served sliced on a relish tray with dips. It is also enjoyed boiled or mashed. Prepare greens by steaming. Â
When and Where to Plant–Â Direct sow 3 weeks before the last frost in the spring , or after the hottest part of summer for a fall crop. Prefers rich, deeply worked soil and full sun. Apply mulch to conserve moisture and control weeds.
